Can't...Catch...Breath...

*pant* *pant* *pant* Sheri Purdy, what are you doing to me!? I am truly developing a love-hate relationship with these instructors. I love them every hour out of each day EXCEPT for those 45 long minutes in the morning when I become the sweat slave. Sheri incorporated dumbbells into the routine this morning for the first time since RIPT started and after the 100 or so bicep curls today, I know my arms will be reminding me they're there all day long. I'm thankful my desk chair has arm rests so my arm movement will be minimal today. Keep it up everyone! Remember your diet is just as important as the exercise :) ~ Dana D.

Friday Night Challenge!

Even though the morning class had to be cancelled (as the wellness center/fitness classes follow the school delays and cancellations) the afternoon/evening classes are still on schedule. The instructors want to remind us all to review to our handouts on the policy for weather cancellations or just visit the wellness page at www.wheatoniowa.org for the policy.

The cold may tempt you to skip class (I was tempted just thinking about the temperature) but think of how great you'll feel when you're done! Hope to see you all there! Amy

RIPT - Good Fun, Good Workout

The Wednesday night class was full and we got our money's worth! We did some interesting things, lining up for some fun activites. As we moved to the beat of 80's music, some people in the class showed off their singing and dancing talents. I didn't have enough energy to keep up with them, but enjoyed watching and listening - they made a tough workout a little more fun! Keep it up 5:30 pm! In those times when you're feeling awkward, sweating profusely, or need to take a quick break, know you're not alone! We're all in the same boat! Thanks Zack for pushing us along. See you Friday night!

Stay Motivated

The first week wasn't so bad! I really like the instructors and they push you to reach your maximum potential (I need that). But I must admit...Friday at 5 pm, I could have just went home or out for a cold one with a friend as I was tired from the long week. I begrudgingly went to class, which was surprisingly light in attendance, considering it was only the second class. HANG IN THERE GANG! You'll be glad you did once the sun begins to shine! And now that my co-worker Dana is back from vacation and proved himself honorable by getting there this a.m. in a snow storm, I won't plan on checking the KWWL website to see if they're canceling class tonight. I'm just going to "get er' done"! Hope to see you all there! Amy

Back to Reality

Ahh, it feels good to be back...I managed to get in from my vacation in California last night and still get up for the 5:45 a.m. RIPT. Our instructor, Tanya, was more than happy to wake us up in class this morning with a whole lotta legs! I wasn't as early as some people so got the pleasure of staring at myself in the mirror in the front of the class. I couldn't help but think, "really? that's what I look like when I exercise?" It was a rather awkward sight.
The nice pool of sweat beneath me was a reminder that although the snow was falling today, summer is coming and time to get that boating body back out. I'm glad I still have a few months...I NEED IT! ~Dana Derflinger

First Night Jitters

In two hours I will once again torture myself for the sake of losing a few pounds and improving muscle tone. Although I'm looking forward to getting back into the "class" setting, I'm not looking forward to the first few weeks of aching muscles and less mobility. I've instructed my children to eat all "naughty" foods by 6:30 pm tonight so upon my return after class there will be no temptation. You'd think the need to buy a wedding dress in the next six months would be motivation enough...but then Friday night comes and pizza seems to shout my name! The psychological game begins!
