"When Do I Get Addicted"

Question I overheard before class today - common feeling, when does working out quit being work and start being 'want to' like chocolate, or beer, or you fill in the blank.

I'm no scientist, but here is what I think - maybe it never does, but just like we can get habitually down on ourselves about weight, looks or pant size we can get 'addicted' to the results of pushing ourselves 3-4 times a week, the compliments, the way you feel and, yep, the extra room in the pants. Maybe the focus is wrong for many of us?

I know how, just not when, I got addicted to M&M's....I ate them every day for a long, long time until I couldn't remember when I started and knew I did not want to end today....

Think about it - I need a hot tub after more walking lunges and using a extra heavy combat bar, gosh I hope I can lift my car keys!

The Comeback Kid

First class after missing a week +1..... what hit me? I tried to be good while away at conference and visiting my parents but really nothing replaces this...at least nothing self directed (and, I've learned, a little more sleep does not build muscle). So it's time to get serious....Miriam tried to kill me today and didn't even know it.

Friday, I own the gym (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)

Day One....the morning after

First class yesterday, helps to know what to expect and I enjoyed watching first timers look like they wanted to pass out....remembered well the first one last January and the exact same feeling.

Today I appreciate their approach re: muscle confusion - they work to work things you forget about...the way my legs feel today I forgot a lot over the summer, and here is what's weird - I can ride the bike 20-30 miles on Saturday with no big issue, but 50 minutes of RIPT and I'm wishing the house had an elevator instead of stairs. OUCH.

Back for More...but Why

Its been over five months....and I was so good, for awhile. But now of the eve of RIPT II the reality is back - I didn't 'maintain the gain' all summer. BBQ and Budweiser replaced the bands and the bosu and you don't have to be, say, as smart as the Wellness Staff to figure out what that means.

Despite it I wasnt' in a hurry to sign up - and that's my point...I was going to skip (think I'd have gotten any fitter?). But a good work out partner jumped right back in and drug me along ... and come next Wednesday, I will be reminded what that 'for better or worse' vow meant.

So come along for the ride - - - this time, it's for results.

Are you in?
Why not?

Let's hear your story too.....its not just time for Football...it's time to get RIPT (ok, and I will admit, I miss the great high of people asking 'are you losing weight')

Lets do this thing!
